Being 16 is stressful. If you’re like me, you’re probably stressed about homework, clubs, relationships, college, and the diminishing likelihood that a freak accident will turn you into a teenage superhero. Ok, maybe not all of those, but at 16 the choices you make feel as if they’ll alter the course of your life. Speaking from experience, that’s extremely stressful. However, there are teenagers actively working to make it less stressful. Zayn Patel, a rising senior from Seattle, Washington, is the co-founder of two companies that aim to ease the stress of teenagers everywhere.

Everyone wants to see that their life has some impact on the world. Zayn Patel is no different. Since grade 8, Zayn was smitten by the idea of using business to leave his mark. According to him, it’s not about the money, but rather the change that is implemented from his work. With the help of his friends and his business mentor Coby Dilling, he has been able to see his work become a reality.
His first venture, Help LLC, was founded in June of 2019 alongside four of his bestfriends. In Zayn’s own words, “Our purpose within this venture is to enable a seamless B2B and B2C relationship where customers can schedule services”. The most valuable commodity in this day and age is time, and time is exactly what Help LLC tries to give to you. By streamlining the process, you, the customer, are given more time to do whatever you enjoy doing. According to Zayn, Help LLC is in the growth stage and is currently looking for customers. Their website (helptechnologies.net) touts the use of data analytics, automated scheduling, employee management, and a secure, centralized, payment method.
While Help LLC doesn’t appear to have a specific demographic, their services are for anyone whocovets their time. This definitely includes teenagers. Whether you’re a young upstart looking for an intuitive way to manage their business or just a babysitter trying to make a quick buck, Help LLC aims to be the premier platform for you. Currently, the website is under construction as a new platform is being developed, but there is an option to be notified when it is first available.
Let’s say that business isn’t your cup of tea at this point in your life. Luckily for you, Zayn, along with some colleagues, has another business venture called UConnect Co. In the current age, it has become increasingly difficult to get a career without post-high school education. As such, searching and applying for colleges can be an extremely daunting and terrifying task to do at an age when you can barely drive. UConnect Co is designed to mitigate that stress. The purpose of UConnect Co is two-fold; first, it’s to provide underprivileged students a college counseling platform that their school may lack. Second, it’s goal is to make the entire college process as seamless as possible. After a quick glance around the website (https://uconnectco.app), I can say that from first-hand experience, it’s exceptionally intuitive in its design.
A plethora of information on several colleges is all in one easy to access the webpage. The school tab contains everything from the location to the tuition to the sports available. Also, the bottom of the page provides links to the school’s websites, allowing the prospective student to search more. The scholarship tab provides a long list of scholarship options, divided by state, corporations, and schools. Last, but certainly not least, the forum tab offers a place for students to communicate and sometimes commiserate over the college process. This provides real insight into the human side of the applications. Rather than reading numbers and statistics, the forum provides a much-needed aspect of humanity. Zayn has said that the forum is his favorite part of the site, stating that “students from across the country post feedback, questions, and advice for students, including alterations in the college process this upcoming application cycle.” He hopes that in the future UConnect Co will cultivate more meaningful interaction and implement more personalized data for each user. While college application will still be crazy stressful, UConnect Co is aiming to ease that stress at least somewhat.
If that wasn’t enough, Zayn Patel has one last project that he’s been developing. During the pandemic, he has been developing a podcast, specifically forteenage entrepreneurs. He has always wanted to make a podcast. However, he only recently found the time during the quarantine. His podcast is called Foundations and often welcomes guests from various industries. According to Zayn, Foundations is meant to “give listeners the ‘fundamentals’ to inspire and allow them to harness every aspect of their lives.” It’s become clear that Zayn seeks to motivate change through his work, and Foundations is just the most recent manifestation.
At the age of 16, Zayn Patel has had his part in creating several ventures designed to de-stress teenage life. In a little under a year, he and his friends have built these ideas from nothing, and I’m honestly excited to see what happens next. He explained in an email to Teenager Startups that he wanted to build these businesses to immerse himself and learn fully on the job. I think that it’s great that he was willing to share what he’s learned with everyone
else.
