What comes to your mind when you hear ‘Personal Branding’? Well, as it contains ‘Branding’, it might imply something related to a brand or business. Surely! Branding plays a key role in the success profile of any brand or business but personal branding comprises so much more. Gone are the days when your professional existence was limited only to a visiting card. In this era of digitization, you need to have a presence that reflects your personality, the kind of service you are providing, and your skills. It doesn’t matter whether you are an entrepreneur, an independent educator, a chef, or an influencer because personal branding always gives you a distinguished identity if done in the right way.

Why Personal Branding?
It is a common observation that a person is the best brand ambassador for himself. Nobody knows a person better than himself. To portray in front of everyone about who you are, what your skill-set is, what you can excel at, and everything that you want people to know about you,  personal branding will play a crucial role in your wayfare. It makes people answer the question – ‘Why You?’ themselves, and you begin building trustful relations in the professional world. The following image shows how Personal Branding can set up your identity uniquely.

How to apply personal branding impactfully?
Personal branding has no thumbed rule of success because your preferences and ideologies hold the key positions in this process. However, here are a few points that make it impactful.

1. Identify your purpose and stick to it- If you are a fashion blogger, people will not come to get business tips from you. Similarly, if you an entrepreneur, your followers will be skeptical if you start giving styling tips. The point is that identify the purpose of your brand or work and stick to it. It is a notable point as people prefer quality over quantity. So, be the game-changer in your field and keep diving deeper into it to stand out.
2. Be Consistent- Right use of social media and digitization has become the distinguishing tool today. Consistency makes a lot of difference when it comes to social media. Nobody likes to land on a profile or a website that is inactive for the past two months. So, take care of your activity on your social media handles and website, if you own one. Use relevant themes and hashtags to increase your reach. Also, take care of the uniformity of tone and content across all the platforms.

3. Be Authentic- It is called personal branding for a reason. It is a mode to show who you are, what your personality is, and how you can make a difference. So, stick to the values that you believe and maintain what is unique about you or your brand throughout.
4. Pay attention to little details- Every little detail takes a step in setting you or your brand apart. Be it the theme colors of your brand, the logo you select, the picture you have put, or even the font you use. So, pay attention to such details and see that those details add relevance to your purpose.

One question that might arise is that how can personal branding help you if you begin early. So, if you are a teenager or a young entrepreneur, remember that you are born in an era of digitization. If you start identifying the importance of Personal Branding from an early stage, it is bound to help you in your ventures. Maintain uniformity, build good connections, visualize which job you want to do or what kind of startup you want to begin with, and start taking little steps in these directions.
Always remember –‘ You are your own Brand.’
